I understand that Astwood Bank lost their last 16 tie at home to Stockton yesterday. No details yet but a bit of a surprise to me! Maybe the top batters ate too many cakes at half time.
Did anyone realise that Dan Sealey, who opened for Astwood Bank and got 33 (looked very good), then caught Reg and Nighters, is the bass guitarist with Ocean Colour Scene? Wikipedia is a wonderful thing!
According to the umpire who did the other game Stockton will not have a chance against Gret Ecclesstone who beat Quatt. Apparently Quatt’s ground very lovely though!
To be fair no one would have given Stockton a chance against us but they played well so don’t rule them out
Stockton beat Quatt in 2005 to get to the quarter finals (where they lost to Astwood Bank), so its not clear cut. I don’t think any team can be guaranteed to win at this stage.
There is a report on Stockton’s website with more details.
Great Ecclestone have only won three games to get to this stage, so we don’t know that they are world beaters. Stockton have three or four lads who came through the school where I teach, all of whom I know are excellent players. They are a very good side, make no mistake!
