U-15, 50 for Skipper Smith

Malcolm Smith made his first ever half century in tonights game against Griff and Coton U-15. As far as I can recall he is only the third junior to post a 50 in the last ten years, the others being Reg and Tom Barber. Malcolm shared a hundred partnership with Mitch Lennon for the second wicket. At one time it loked like  we might have two fifties but the overs ran out. Mitch finished on 44 not out. Malcolm only faced 35 balls and punished bad balls consistently with shots all around the wicket.

For the record we made 134-2, and Griff were 29-2 after 4 overs when a shower curtailed the game. For Griff Choudhury had hit two excellent boundaries befor falling to a storming catch on the boundary (Smith again!) off the last ball bowled.

I think I am near enough correct. Will add the scorebook page photo Friday if the game is on and I have the book. The batting dots/runs don’t add to exactly 108 (18 overs) but not far off. Mitch had a few dots in the middle of his innings. Matty very few dots. Also Binga thinks Anthony and Chris Allen have junior fifties as well as Reg and Barbs.

There are 108 balls in an 18 over innings. Will Vines faced 6, Matty Smith 35, Mitch Lennon 60, and Kyle Taylor 7. The difference is in the dots. Matty 8, Nitch 36. Matty hit eight fours and Mitch six. So there!
